What Tires Fit My Car

Proper tire size assures that the wheel makes contact on the road and affects your drive. But how can you find your tire size, you might ask? Down below, you will find a couple of ways to know the exact size you need.

Vehicle Type

Let's start with your vehicle's exact characteristics. For the best match, you will need to determine the year, make, model and variation. They can be found in three places - the owner's manual, the driver's door jamb, and the window sticker.

Driving Condition

If your daily commute or job requires you to go through rough terrain, you shouldn't get ordinary tires. Ask for wheels that are more or less for offroading than asphalt roads. This will help by providing extra grip and safety when you need it.

Tire Sidewall Information

Having a closer look at your wheels, you will see a lot of numbers and text, but don't get scared. Three of those numbers are important for you to know. From left to right, the numbers mean - tire width, aspect ratio, and diameter.
For example, we will take one of the most common tire sizes, 225/65R17. The First number, 225, means that the distance between sidewall to sidewall is 225 millimeters. The second, 65, refers to the tire's height being 65% of the width. Finally, the third, 17, is for the wheel diameter it fits.

Seasonal Correctness

The most neglected part of choosing wheels is the season they are for. Of course, we are not talking about the south where it's hotter because the weather rarely changes. If you experience all kinds of weather throughout the year, equip vehicles for the appropriate season. A pair of good winter wheels can make a big difference in driving and safety.

To sum everything up, good tires are a must. Feeling secure on the road is their job, but achieving it can only be done by knowing what to look for when buying new ones. After you make your purchase, we strongly advise you to have them aligned at a repair shop.

Fortunately, at Marc Yount's Tire Pros, we do just about everything tire-related. We can help you get fitted for new tires and install and service them right at our facility!
